Convert common HVAC engineering units.
Design vs Field Refrigeration Performance
Take a reference refrigeration cycle and place one stabilized field snapshot beside it. Separate what changed in saturation conditions, SH/SC, pressure ratio and discharge temperature from what measured capacity and compressor input actually show.

Useful during reference & conversion work.
- Resolve unit-system differences quickly across calculations, drawings, schedules and vendor data.
- Look up common formulas, constants and engineering reminders without leaving the HVACR workspace.
- Reduce repeated manual conversion work while keeping the final engineering review with the user.
Frequently asked questions
Does this calculate the actual compressor efficiency from field readings?
No. The condition-equivalent cycle deliberately keeps compressor isentropic efficiency equal to the design assumption. That isolates the theoretical effect of changed operating conditions without pretending to infer real compressor efficiency or OEM map performance.
Is measured capacity divided by compressor kW the same as theoretical cycle COP?
Not automatically. Theoretical cycle COP is a refrigerant-cycle boundary. Measured capacity/compressor electrical input can include motor/VFD and measurement-boundary effects, while auxiliaries may be inside or outside the field measurement. HVACR Studio shows the gap descriptively and labels the boundary.
Does a large deviation tell me the fault?
No. This tranche quantifies the deviation only. Root-cause interpretation belongs to the subsequent Refrigeration Performance Intelligence / Issue Finder workflow and must still consider measurement quality, OEM criteria, airflow/load and equipment context.
How is R744 handled?
R744 field suction pressure is converted to a low-side saturation temperature, while the measured transcritical high-side pressure and gas-cooler outlet temperature are used directly. The tool does not invent a high-side condensing saturation temperature above the critical point.
