ENGINEERING REFERENCE

HVAC&R Quick Reference

A searchable field reference for the formulas, constants and unit relationships used across the Leal HVAC&R Toolbox.

Scope: This page is an engineering memory aid, not a replacement for project calculations, equipment manufacturer data, safety requirements or applicable codes and standards. It deliberately does not publish generic code-required ACH, ventilation rates, duct-velocity limits, refrigerant charge limits or safety classifications.

Free calculator — authorized account required

Create or sign in to your free professional account. Calculator access is activated only after the applicable Leal approval policy is satisfied; engineering method and reference content remain visible.

Reference conventions
  • Cooling-capacity conversions use the International Table BTU and kilocalorie conventions documented by the toolbox.
  • Water and dry-air properties shown here are the same fixed design approximations used by the corresponding calculators.
  • Psychrometric equations use the same dry-air mass basis as the validated psychrometric engine.
  • Pressure conversion never changes gauge/absolute reference unless atmospheric pressure is explicitly included.
  • Refrigerant bubble and dew references preserve blend glide instead of presenting one ambiguous saturation temperature.
WHEN TO USE THIS TOOL

Useful during reference & conversion work.

  • Resolve unit-system differences quickly across calculations, drawings, schedules and vendor data.
  • Look up common formulas, constants and engineering reminders without leaving the HVACR workspace.
  • Reduce repeated manual conversion work while keeping the final engineering review with the user.
